He thought he was simply showing off his new car. A few seconds later, he awakened a whole generation of enthusiasts. Alfa Romeo. On Instagram, the bob_test_driver account posted a video that went viral in just a few days: over 12,000 likes, nearly 300,000 views, and a comment that perfectly sums up the scene: "I almost made a mistake! Luckily, my son reminded me of the nugget I have in my garage". Behind this almost innocuous sentence lies a face-off as symbolic as it is provocative, between two Alfa Romeos separated by twenty years of history... but united by the same logo.
A Junior Veloce to start the provocation
The video begins with an Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, the most radical version of the brand's new B-SUV. A 100 % electric model, here on loan for a test drive. Under the hood, or rather under the floor, a 280 hp electric motor, a cavalry that enables the little Italian SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed in excess of 200 km/h. On paper, the Junior Veloce is impressive: an Alfa Romeo of its time, designed to appeal to a new clientele and respond to current market constraints. But the video doesn't stop there. And it's precisely at this point that everything changes.
The garage opens, and the legend appears
After showing Junior, Bob_Test_Driver heads for his garage. The door opens. The sound changes. Radically. In front of the camera appears an Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, considered by many to be the brand's true modern Holy Grail. Under its hood, no omnipresent electronics, but the mythical Busso V6 engine in its ultimate 3.2-liter version. A 250 hp naturally-aspirated engine, renowned as much for its performance as for its legendary sound. An engine that has forever marked the history of Alfa Romeo... and that of its enthusiasts. The contrast is striking. On one side, the almost clinical silence of the electric. On the other, the roar of an unfiltered V6.

Two Alfa Romeos, two philosophies
The 147 GTA, launched in the early 2000s, was anything but reasonable. With its 250 hp, it reached 246 km/h and accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, all with a manual gearbox. Fuel consumption was in excess of 12 liters per 100 kilometers. But its buyers knew that. And they didn't care.

The Junior Veloce embodies a different vision of performance. Faster from 0 to 100, more efficient, much more technologically advanced, but also smoother, quieter, more in line with today's standards. Two eras, two ways of conceiving the sports car, under the same badge. The video makes no distinction. It doesn't try to say which is better. It simply shows what each generation projects onto Alfa Romeo.
If this Instagram post has worked so well, it's not by chance. It's neither an anti-electricity rant, nor a rejection of the past. It's a moment in life, shared with humor and self-mockery. A father, a modern car, a son who reminds him that he already has a treasure in his garage.
The sticking point is that one is actually a Peugeot (the same is true of the 208 GTI ... and the Mocca).
In short, the 147 is a true Alfa 😁.
Both are fine, but they date from different eras.
1.2 l with the 147 GTA, you need to be very light-footed, because it's more like a minimum of 13 l - 13.5 l.
The Junior Veloce is sharp and high-performance, while the 147 is an old-timer, which implies qualities and flaws, with its jewel of a V6 engine.
