Alfa Romeo advances to 2025, but still relies on a single model

2025 will be remembered as the year of recovery... but also the year of fragility. Alfa Romeo is making clear progress, thanks to the launch of the Junior, which began its European career in earnest at the end of 2024. The small Polish-made SUV is now the cornerstone of a brand that is returning to growth, while revealing an increasingly obvious dependence on a single model. The restyled Tonale, which we tried out a few weeks agowas to maintain the momentum as the year drew to a close. For the time being, his role remains secondary.

Overall, from January to November 2025, Alfa Romeo grew by +24 % in the main markets we follow, with 58,665 registrations. A genuine performance, but one that comes after a historically low 2024. And above all, behind this upturn, one truth stands out: without Junior, 2025 would probably not look the same.

Italy: a surprisingly weak November

Italy, the brand's biggest market, had a mixed November. With 1,906 registrations, Alfa Romeo did less well than in November 2024 and November 2023, approaching a summer month in terms of volumes. The Junior maintained its position at 1,094 units, putting it in 30th place in the Italian market, just ahead of the Peugeot 2008. But no other model in the range appears in the top 50. Is the momentum of the launch already waning? Yet the year remains largely positive, with an increase of +27 % over 2024 and a total of 26,538 registrations.

Germany: a solid market, where the Stelvio continues to surprise

Alfa Romeo's second-largest market worldwide, Germany had a decent November, but not excessively so. The month's 461 registrations include 262 Juniors, but also a remarkable 106 Stelvios. The top-of-the-range SUV continues to perform surprisingly well in Germany, far better than in Italy or France.
The country has grown by +20 % since January, with 6,806 registrations, confirming its strategic role in the brand's recovery.

France: vigorous growth but market dominated by Junior at 72 %

The world's third-largest market, France closed a dynamic November with 397 registrations. These included 286 Juniors, 77 Tonales, 19 Giulias and 15 Stelvios, a balance that perfectly illustrates the current hierarchy within the range. Since January, the country has grown by +47 %, for a total of 5,561 registrations, and has now overtaken the United States. Here again, the French rise is almost entirely due to the Junior.

United States: an increasingly difficult year

Relegated to fourth place, the United States continues its descent. November's 323 registrations continue the trend of a complicated year, marked by a -34 % drop since January to just 5,294 units. The country now lives and breathes by a single model: the Tonale. The absence of the Junior, not necessarily suited to this market, deprives Alfa Romeo of its sole growth engine, while awaiting the renewal of the Giulia and Stelvio.

Spain, UK, Poland: the Junior effect continues to spread

In Spain, 278 registrations in November confirmed a good momentum, with 234 Juniors. The country grew by +18 % over the year, again illustrating a massive dependence on the small SUV.

In the UK, Junior deliveries have been gaining momentum since September, leading to an excellent November with 248 units. The country is one of Europe's best performers, with +76 % since January and 2,705 registrations.

In Poland, where the Junior is produced, Alfa Romeo continues to make progress. November's 196 registrations take the annual total to over 2,000 units, and the Junior approaches the national top 20. A powerful symbol for a "Polish" Alfa Romeo.

Turkey, Japan and other markets: progress becomes more uniform

In Turkey, 2025 remains a very positive year. November's 178 registrations confirm an overall increase of +54 %. In Japan, after the arrival of the first Juniors, 152 registrations were recorded for the month, representing a year-to-date increase of +61 %. Belgium had a weak month, with 68 units - one of the lowest figures for the year - but nevertheless posted a +40 % increase for the year to date. Austria was stable with 104 units and an annual increase of +32 %. Switzerland posted 93 registrations and an increase of +20 %. In the Netherlands, the Junior effect is spectacular: 926 registrations since January, compared with 442 last year. Of these, 751 are Juniors. An impressive change of scale.

A mixed picture, accelerating Europeanization

Between January and November 2025, Alfa Romeo registered a total of 58,665 cars in its markets, an increase of +24 %. Europe absorbed the vast majority of these volumes, while the United States fell back. The brand is more European than ever, and more than ever driven by a single model.

Junior has clearly fulfilled his mission: to relaunch Alfa Romeo in 2025 and compensate for the American downturn. But the extreme dependence it creates is a major risk. If the novelty effect wears off or the competition intensifies, Alfa Romeo could quickly find itself in a tricky situation. The restyled Tonale will absolutely have to play a more important role in 2026, pending the future Giulia and Stelvio, which will be decisive in rebalancing the range.

  1. MDR, that's going to make what over the full year 2025, 60,000 go being optimistic 70,000 sales in total! Even in its own country, Italy, Alfa is only making up the numbers against foreign brands 😂😂😂

  2. And to think that it's a Peugeot in disguise that saves Alfa... especially as the Tonale FL I can't really see how it's going to get going again.

  4. But where are these juniors, because we don't see them on the roads. With a wider choice of engines and a diesel, it would certainly sell even more.

  5. Mit dem Junior hat Alfa Romeo alles richtig gemacht. Nicht nur auf E Auto setzen war auch richtig. Alfa ist und bleibt eine Leidenschaft. Es gibt dafür keine Erklärung. Entweder man will es oder man will von der Stange
