
It's a piece of information as unexpected as it is promising that we've been able to gather over the last few days. A reliable source, very close to the manufacturer, has revealed that an all-new Alfa Romeo is well and truly in the pipeline for 2026. And surprise, surprise: it won't be the next Giulia or the future Stelvio, whose launch has been postponed.
According to our contact, the model has already been presented internally. He's seen it with his own eyes, but won't reveal its exact shape or category. SUV, sedan or crossover coupé? A mystery. The only certainty is that its dimensions will be somewhere between those of the Tonale (4.53 m) and the Stelvio (4.69 m), which suggests a size of around 4.60 meters.
Such a format is not insignificant. It is reminiscent of a rumour we relayed last May, concerning an original Alfa Romeo model, positioned between the Junior and the Tonale. The rumor was that the vehicle would be based on the STLA Small platform, and would be launched after the Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio had been renewed. But with the many adjustments made to Stellantis' schedule in recent months, including the postponement of the new StelvioIn view of the current economic crisis, and the uncertainties associated with U.S. tariffs, the launch order seems to have been turned upside down. Nonetheless, a 4.6-meter model suggests a STLA Medium rather than STLA Small platform.
In any case, the arrival of this mystery model could come sooner than expected. And that would make sense: Alfa Romeo sorely needs new models to bolster sales volumes, which have been struggling to break the 70,000 annual unit barrier for several years now. The postponement of the Stelvio, originally scheduled for 2025, obviously doesn't help the situation.
If this new Alfa Romeo has already been shown internally during July 2025, and marketing is scheduled for 2026, it's highly likely that new leaks or official information will appear in the coming weeks. For our part, we're staying on the alert.

With many of the major car manufacturers having thousands of recalls every year, I would strongly suggest that Alfa concentrate on improving the reliability of their vehicles before introducing another new vehicle that will undoubtedly have recalls of its own. I think they would sell a lot more cars if they concentrated building more reliability into their present lineup.
